Comments Please

Hello :)
I have a question:
This is for everyone, soapers, nonsoapers, users of natural handmade soap, and users of Grocery Store soap.
Would you pay $9.50-$9.75 for a 7 oz bar of natural soap make with oils, butters, and essential oils?
Please leave your comments-My mind REALLY Needs to Know!

The reason I need to know, I spent $9.50 on a bar of soap today and I'm thinking that I paid way too much.

UPDATE: the ingredients are listed in the comments section

In a word: NO

While 7 oz is a very hefty bar by all accounts, I can't see the justification in charging almost $10.00 for it. I'm curious to know what the exact ingredients are.

I understand that essential oils are far more expensive and concentrated than standard fragrance oils, but as a consumer, I just can't see myself spending $10.00 for just 1 bar of soap! And I'm a soap maker! I'd use that bar sparingly-savoring each bubble with every use...LOL. Seriously, what's in the soap-and how much was the shipping?

I've seen 7 oz bars listed for $8.50-$9 on Etsy and 7 oz. is a generous size for an all-natural bar, but I could also go to World Market and get a similar bar for somewhere in the $6 range. I probably would not pay $9.50 for it unless there were some very unusual ingredients or it came from an artisan whose other products were already favs of mine.

Thanks Gals-
Ingredients: soybean oil, virgin coconut oil, distilled water, sodium hydroxide, babassu oil, cocoa seed butter, basam peru EO, Vanilla EO, Mace EO Jojoba Seed Oil, sodium lactate.
Seems pretty standard to me, not sure on the Mace EO or soybean oil.

While I understand that retail must be higher to compensate for Wholesale-this still seems very high for me. PS the wrapping is cute, but nothing special-just a mid weight newspaper looking wrapping, it is specially printed with a paper band over that.

Okay, there you go:

The babassu oil is pretty expensive as well as the Vanilla EO. That stuff's like $100.00 an oz! All in all, the ingredients appear to be top-notch which seem to justify the price of the soap.

It would really depend on the soap. I say why not! I spend $10 on a little tube of handcream.

Enjoy!

I would have to agree with Scrapper and say, it depends on the bar. If it smelled luscious and had great ingredients and
I HAD to have it...I'd buy it in a second.
XOXO

I would not, but I'm cheap like that.

As someone who used to regularly pay $35 bucks for 4 oz of body butter (before I got smart and made my own), I just may pay that much if it was a great bar of soap with awesome ingredients.

7 oz seems to be really hefty, the soaper would be better off making a 4 oz bar and charge 6 bucks for it.
