I'm giving the Cliff Notes Version of the Watermelon Festival.
It was a GREAT TIME!!!
Selling, nowhere near great!
It was definitely a Sponsor type event. Not a selling event!
I'm not sore over it-I did learn a few things that I'll happily share.
1. If you sponsoring at an event in sun and heat-don't go to sell.
2. Bring TONS of samples attached to business cards. Those were a big hit!
3. DO NOT leave soap bars on a table in 9o degree heat-in the sun. Bars that are not shrink wrapped are ok-but bars in plastic can't expel the heat and just melt-all over your white tablecloth.
4. Do not overstock for a sponsor event-where selling is not the focus. You'll be bringing alot home with you!
5. This kind of event is Fantastic for networking! I may have an article written about me for a local magazine in a month or 2, perfect for Holiday sales and connected with a local group that has gardening meetings. They are interested in having me teach them about my cookeez-since I grow and use my own herbs in the cookeez.
6. Go with an open mind-you never know what can happen?
So, what did you learn?
soap in plastic, in heat =liquid soap
sponsoring does not = selling
samples+business cards=website hits
There are more lessons to be learned, but this is the Cliff notes version-you'll get the whole lesson is a future post.
Enjoy the pictures of of the day.
Since I had 1 week to prepare-it wasn't the most professional look and I didn't bring my awesome displays because it was too darn hot to carry furniture.

Katie after she won the Limbo Contest.
It wasn't all about free samples and smiles-well maybe alot of smiles.
