John Hughes RIP

Tonight at dinner my resident Poll Taker-asked me what my favorite movie is...
(The Poll Taker has asked questions about EVERYTHING for about the last 2 weeks-what is your favorite color, what product that you make do you like best, what day do you like best, what is your favorite season, what phase of the moon do you like best......... you get the point-I could go on, but I will save you the urge to press ESC and get out of my blog.)
Anyhoo, back to where we began, I replied, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. This answer has never and probably will never change. Being a Generation before the X and Y-which would make me a W?, that movie has been a favorite of mine forever. Some people quote Star Wars, some quote Die Hard, Some might even quote Hanna Montana, but I quote Ferris and Cameron and even that Mat re de at the "snooty/snotty" restaurant.
I adore this movie. I can't figure out why I love it so much, maybe because as a kid I wanted to be Ferris-the most popular person in school (and town), or maybe because Ferris knew he was adored by the masses-but it didn't matter to him. Whatever the reason, this is my favorite movie of all time (almost all of my 37 years).
So, as the poll taker took tonight's opinion poll (Nielson-she needs a JOB!) the first words out of my mouth, after I swallowed my peas was Ferris Bueller's Day Off. the pollster replied with a, "Is that the one where they steal the car?" I quickly cut her off with a "they borrowed the car".
MENTAL NOTE: When the Poll taker is 16 it is STEALING!!!
Thus ended tonight's poll.

I had no idea when I went to the MSN homepage that John Hughes would be on the front page with his death being announced.
My heart aches-while I never met or new anything about John Hughes, he was and is a part of my life. A life that spans close to 37 years. John has been around for about 29 of them, and will continue to be around.
We are a John Hughes family, last night I found myself quoting Judd Nelson, from the Breakfast Club. I still believe that kissing Jake Ryan on a dining room table would be the best 16th Birthday present ever, and that wrestlers will always wear tights.
Rest in Peace John, but know that you will live on.

Oh I know what you mean. I love his movies. He did movies that I didn't even know he did, either through writing or whatever. It is so sad and makes me feel tres old. :(

By the way, those apothocary jars I have are not from C&B, but rather from good ole Target! The smaller one with the white top was part of the Shabby Chic bath collection and may still be there. The all glass top one is definitely still there. They have those in several sizes all the time. I love them. (glad you think they look like C&B!) ;-)
